We believe that future psychologists should not only learn about mental health in the classroom but also understand the realities of community-based support. This placement provides a unique opportunity to develop professional skills, build confidence, and gain invaluable experience within a growing, innovative charity dedicated to improving wellbeing and reducing social isolation.
Placements for our students
We are excited to offer a 12-month placement opportunity for a student looking to gain hands-on experience within a growing mental health charity.
Working alongside our dedicated team, you will play an active role in supporting volunteers, engaging with clients, and contributing to the continued development of our services.
Your role will involve gathering feedback from clients and volunteers, supporting service evaluation and data collection, helping to create resources for volunteers, and contributing to projects that improve wellbeing across the organisation. You will also have opportunities to attend events, work with partner organisations, and gain valuable insight into the third sector.
You will be primarily based at our Herne Bay office, working closely with our Senior Wellbeing Coordinator and wider management team. Throughout the placement, you will receive ongoing support, develop new skills, and gain experience that will enhance your future career prospects
What does it look like?
At Keep Talking Services, we believe that students learn best when they feel supported, valued, and part of the team. As a placement student, you will receive regular supervision and guidance from experienced staff with extensive knowledge of mental health, wellbeing, volunteering, and the charity sector. We are passionate about helping students develop both professionally and personally throughout their placement.
We already work with a large number of Health and Social Care, Counselling, and Psychology students, so we understand the requirements of student placements and the importance of creating a positive learning environment. Our aim is to provide meaningful experience that complements your studies and supports your future career aspirations.
The placement will be primarily based at our friendly Herne Bay office, where you will work closely with staff, volunteers, and partners. There may also be opportunities to work remotely where appropriate, allowing for some flexibility throughout the year.
You can expect involvement in a variety of activities including client engagement, service evaluation, project work, volunteer support, data collection, wellbeing initiatives, and helping us continue to improve the services we provide to our community.
As part of the placement, you'll receive some exclusive Keep Talking Services merchandise, a meal deal for every day you are working from the office, and where appropriate we will contribute towards or cover travel expenses. Most importantly, you'll gain valuable hands-on experience within a growing mental health charity while making a genuine difference to the lives of the people we support.
